Wednesday, February 3rd

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Make sure you can answer the check-in questions we discussed at the beginning of class. The questions are listed below:

  1. Draw three water molecules and label dipoles, one covalent bond, and one hydrogen bond
  2. Why do electrons spend more time around the oxygen rather than the hydrogen?
  3. How does water's polarity make it a good solvent?
  4. How does the polarity of water allow for hydrogen bonding?
Lab: Water and it's polarity.
  • 5 stations were set up around the room and the different characteristics of water were tested.
  • Informal write-up due on Thursday (you will get class time tomorrow to work on it).
  • Your write up must include: name, title, observations, and answers to questions
